Fees

The standard rate for all initial therapy intakes is $25.00. This allows us to learn more about why you are seeking therapy and gather personal and family history and provides you with an opportunity to get to know your assigned clinician(s), ask questions about our clinic’s processes, and determine if we are the best fit for your needs.

The standard rate for all ongoing therapy sessions is $100.00 per 50 minute session with a MFT Trainee, $150 per 50 minute session with a Licensed Therapist, and $200 per 50 minute session with a faculty therapist. All intake assignments are reviewed by the clinic director to determine that the assigned clinician has the level of exprience to help you work on your goals. Please note that faculty therapist availablity is often limited and we work hard to provide referrals when the level of experience or type of service needed is beyong what we can provide.

For those with a household income of under $100,000 we offer a Standardized Income-based Fee structure that is less than our standard rate. During the intial phone screening, you will be asked to provide annual or monthly gross household income which will determine your session fee. We understand that financial circumstances can change, and you can update this information with our administrative office at any time to determine if we are able to readjust your session fee. The session fee is based on gross household income and number of persons in the household. Fees for couples therapy are based on the combined income for all partners in the relationship.

Payment for each session is due at the time of service. Payment can be made by credit card or check only. Checks can be made out to the Ohio State University.

Questions or concerns related to fees or billing should be directed to our administrative team and not to your therapist as they do not handle billing.

Are you an OSU Student, Staff, or Faculty Member ?

The OSU Couple and Family Therapy Clinic offers discounted services to OSU students, staff, and faculty. The fee for any OSU undergraduate student is $20 per 50 minute session.

OSU graduate students, faculty, and staff received a $20 discount off their designated session fee (either the standard rate or the income based rate). This discount cannot be reduced more or less than $20 for individuals, couples or families.

Insurance

We are not contracted with any insurance companies including OSU health plans.  Although some clients have been successful in obtaining reimbursement from their insurance companies using their “out of network” benefits, this is not guaranteed.  If clients are seeking to use their “out of network” benefits, they must check with their insurance company prior to the start of receiving services at the OSU CFT clinic. The clinic administrative team is happy to provide you with a superbill that can be submitted to insurance to request out of network reimbursement. This superbill is not a guarantee of reimbursement.

Please call our clinic at 614-292-3671 with any questions you have about fees.
